Leo J. Govoni has more than 30 years experience in various capacities within the financial services industries. He is the President and founder of Boston Asset Management, Inc., a registered investment advisor. Boston Asset Management is recognized as an industry leader for providing investment advisory services to companies and individuals serving in a fiduciary relationship, whether as trustee, guardian, attorney or in another fiduciary capacity.
Mr. Govoni is also one of the founders of The Centers, a Florida based organization of related businesses, providing a wide range of professional services specifically designed to meet the needs of attorneys and their clients. These services include Medicare and Medicaid lien resolution, Medicare Set-Aside allocation and administration, special needs trust administration, structured settlement consulting and law firm financing.
Regarded as a prominent member of the legal and special needs communities, Mr. Govoni dedicates his energies toward serving in leadership positions with various legal, education and charitable organizations. Mr. Govoni served on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Bar Foundation and the Hillsborough County Bar Foundation. Mr. Govoni was a member of the Stetson University Board of Trustees and now serves on the Stetson University College of Law Board of Overseer’s Committee and its Executive Committee. Mr. Govoni serves locally on the Board of Directors of the Vincent Lecavalier Foundation and has served as a board member and advisor to several national non-profit organizations.
Jonathan Golden has over 30 years of significant and diverse legal and business experience in corporate, securities and real estate law, including advisory roles with major corporations and start-up businesses. Mr. Golden also has extensive operational business and executive management experience overseeing all operations of a high-volume retail business. Prior to joining Boston Finance Group as its General Counsel, Mr. Golden served as General Counsel to Boston Asset Management, a registered investment advisory firm. Mr. Golden still serves as General Counsel of this firm. Mr. Golden began his legal career in 1984 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Enforcement, in its Los Angeles Regional Office. From there, Mr. Golden worked for a number of mid-size law firms in Los Angeles focusing on mergers and acquisitions, emerging growth business development and debt and equity offerings involving the entertainment, franchise, oil and gas and technology industries. In 1993, Mr. Golden left the practice of law to join as a principal a small chain of high-volume, deep discount housewares stores in New Jersey. This business closed in 2006 and the following year he joined Boston Asset Management as its General Counsel. In 2016, Mr. Golden was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Big Storm Brewery, a quickly growing craft brewery located in the Tampa Bay area.
Mr. Golden’s broad base of business and legal experience provides him with unique abilities of risk assessment, strategic financial planning and budgeting, competitive analysis, regulatory compliance and sales and marketing strategies all under an aegis of legal perspective. Mr. Golden is admitted to the practice of law in Florida and California. He has a B.A. from Colgate University and a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law.
Shelly S. Karuppiah brings 23 years of experience to Boston Finance Group in the areas of human resources, organizational development, and manufacturing process improvement. Prior to joining Boston Finance Group, Ms. Karuppiah spent her entire career in the manufacturing sector where she focused on process documentation for repeatability and continuous improvement for organizational growth and competitiveness. Ms. Karuppiah also has extensive operational experience with the launching of remote start-up expansions, mergers and acquisitions, and working with government and related agencies in acquiring ISO/AS certifications. Ms. Karuppiah has previously held supervisory positions in the areas of training and development where she trained and managed 70 process improvement teams across an organization accounting for $1.5 million in savings in a two-year period. In addition, Ms. Karuppiah previously worked as a HR Supervisor, Director of Human Resources and Operations Manager for a manufacturing facility with $80 million in annual sales.
Ms. Karuppiah has a B.S. from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee and holds the following certifications: OSHA Certification, Achieve Global Certified Instructor, and DuPont Safety Training Certified Instructor. She is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association.
Allyson Lazzara has 17 years of legal experience in various roles, including the representation of financial institutions and creditors in creditors’ rights litigation and commercial bankruptcy proceedings. Prior to joining Boston Finance Group as its Associate General Counsel in 2014, Ms. Lazzara worked in mid-size law firms practicing in the areas of commercial litigation, banking and finance, securities litigation and arbitration, and general civil litigation. Ms. Lazzara began her legal career as a paralegal in 1999 in Charleston, South Carolina. In 2001, she moved to Florida and continued working as a paralegal in securities litigation. Since graduating law school, Ms. Lazzara has represented clients in securities matters in state court and with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), complex contractual disputes and business torts litigation, and has represented financial institutions and creditors in the areas of litigation, creditors’ rights, special assets, and bankruptcy proceedings. Ms. Lazzara’s trial experience includes jury and non-jury trials in state court and bankruptcy court as well as arbitrations with FINRA. In 2016, Ms. Lazzara was appointed General Counsel of Boston Finance Group.
Ms. Lazzara provides legal guidance and strategic business advice to the company in all aspects of company management. Ms. Lazzara is admitted to the practice law in Florida. She has a B.S. from the University of Florida and a J.D., cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law.
